Shops like these are actually a menace. The scene I witnessed while going through the Kammanahalli Main Road was pathetic. There is a cycle shop in that road and half of the cycles are out on the road, causing traffic snarls in the evening.
Very interesting photo. Before the 1950's in the US, traveling salesmen would go door to door selling household goods and other things too like insurance. Door to door salesmen are very uncommon nowdays. Your snake charmer picture is amazing!
We loved such mobile sales people when we lived in Turkey. As they sold mostly plastic goods, they were called the "plastikci" (..ci being the suffix denoting person who does something)
