Filter coffee…

Filter coffee is as indigenous to this region as no other regions in the world make their coffee like this…
Coffee is brewed with a metal device that resembles two cylindrical cups, one of which has a pierced bottom that nests into the top, leaving ample room underneath to receive the brewed coffee also called as decoction. The coffee is served along with sweetened milk in a typical Davarah (or dabarah) and tumbler, (kept in the tray to the right) a conical steel tumbler and Davarah is a wide metal saucer with lipped walls. Coffee is typically served after pouring back and forth between the dabarah and the tumbler in huge arc-like motions of the hand. Jai Ganesha…

One of the biggest festivals coming up in next few weeks is Ganesha festival, when millions of idols of lord Ganesha will be worshipped in the households. The artisans work day and night to fulfill this demand, the idols are prepared with clay and keep these idols ready in advance many of which are made to order. Many roadside stalls such as this will come up to display their work and help devotees buy these idols with an advances order or just over the counter.
Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated as it is the birthday of Lord Ganesha. The festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi (fourth day of the waxing moon period). Typically, the day usually falls between 20 August and 15 September, this year it comes on 23rd August 2009.
