Babysitting...
She is responsible for those kids, some of her own and some of her neighbors all day long. Both the parents go off work some on daily wages, some as house maids and the babysitting is done by ladies who can afford to be at home doing this noble work… The kids grow up with each other and tend to learn lessons of life on their own and with so much happenings around in the neighborhood … day passes so quickly, as life moves on!

I think this still happens a lot in rural areas in the Philippines, but not in Metro Manila anymore, where neighbors usually don't even know each other. Such a loss, I think.
