Shiva Temple & Mahashivratri....

A Small Shiva temple on Avenue Road on a normal day, this seems to be closed after sunset. Tomorrow being the Mahashivratri, a great festival of shiva's worshippers...the temple will be decorated and will be flooded with devotees..
The festival of Mahashivratri (literally means the 'Grand Night dedicated for the worship of Lord Shiva'). is looked upon with greatest reverence & respect by the devotees of Lord Shiva. Maha Shivratri or Shivaratri (Night of Shiva) is a Hindu festival celebrated every year on the 14th day in the Krishna Paksha of the month Phalguna in the Hindu Calendar. The most significant practices on this day are offerings of Bael (Bilva) leaves to the Lord Shiva, fasting and all night long vigil.
This day and more so the night is dedicated by the devotees of Lord Shiva for his worship, practice of various austerities & meditation. All the Shiva Temples will be fully decorated and there are hordes of devotees queuing up to get darshan of Lord & offer their obeisance's at the feet of Lord Shiva on this special day. More..

Its amazing how people flock shiva temples on shivrathri and vishnu temples for vaikunta ekadashi,

Me believing that communication with god should be noise free, visit shivas shrine on ekadashi and vice versa. Probably you can meet the gods on that day too :-)

Good post and thoughts.
