Where millions of idols of lord Ganesh will be kept for sale and devotees will bring them home as a ritual and perform ‘pooja’ ceremonies inviting guests for ‘Darshanam’. Many artisans prepare them with clay and keep these idols ready in advance many of which ate made to order.

St.Mary's Church@Shivaji Nagar....

Crowded Streets of Shivaji Nagar and elegant structure of St.Mary's Church, Established by a French Missionary, Abbe Dubois in 1811, this is the only church to be elevated to the status of a minor Basilica. In September, every year, the feast of Virgin Mary is celebrated and attracts people of all faiths.

Mirchi Bajji & the fun time!!

Apart from the flower show at lalbagh there is one more reason to indulge… The mirchi Bajji stall displays mirchis (chili pepper) like a garland to woo the customers with hot bajjis on a nice cool day!! Yum!!
Few school girls have already flocked to the stall and place their orders….

The sector is largely unorganized and employs many workers not so lucky to get permanent jobs in large established mfg units thus become worker turned entrepreneurs in shortest possible time..

August 15th, Independence day brings lot of colors, fragrance and freshness to Lalbagh with annual flower show, the weekend will see thousands flocking to see those beautiful flowers and floral arrangements as the show commenced from 7th August onwards…

The glasshouse houses the show and is an excellent opportunity for photographers visiting the event. Here is a space shuttle arrangement made up from thousands of colorful roses.

Lanes and by-lanes of commercial street remain busy on evening’s and densely crowded on weekends… sellers get innovative selling and displaying their goods, here is one using his motorcycle to display the goods and make a quick buck.
The crowded street though open for vehicles becomes almost a walking street as vehicles prefer not plying on these roads and avoid getting caught in the crowd.

Strolling on the MG Road, I spot this shop selling few fries…the spinach Bajji/Bhaji ( deep fried spinach leaf coated with lentil flour ) remains my favorite…kept in the center tray…yum!
