Jowar Roti Meals@Kamats

Served on a banana leaf the north kanara meals are a pleasure to enjoy. This meal is popular for soft and tasty Jowar (Sorghum) roti served with a brinjal curry, cucumber and onion raita (salad) in Curd, greens & lentils curry. Once you enjoy the Roti’s, then it is time to enjoy steamed rice served with rasam or drum stick sambar a yummy affaire for sure. Not to miss the curd served in earthen pot, a masala buttermilk and various pickles and chutney powers kept on the table….satisfaction guaranteed!!

You made me absolutely hungry with this post! It's a good thing it's lunch time and I'm just about to eat.

I love roti, though I don't think I've tried sorghum yet.

@ Rajesh... A small correction. Its North KARNATAKA meals and not North KANARA meals.... North Karnataka is this Hubli, Dharwad n Bijapur side where Jowar is their staple food, hence Jowar roti. But Haveri, Sagara, Karwar n other places make up North Kanara... Though they do use Jowar, its not their staple food and this meal isn't their ethnic meal
