Festive season may light up major part of the city but for few… their daily work dictates daily contribution required to support their families. A small work shop fixing punctures continues to operate his usual routine….

Brigade Road perhaps becomes hot space on weekends as all the parking lots are full and the parking meters are busy making money so are the attendants with hefty tips… now that the festive season is on this week, this place would heat up even more ….

Shopping stroll, catch up with Roll…

Year-end shopping sometimes gets to much tiring, what else can boost the energy levels other than these Frankies / rolls.

Few small Tibbs outlets offer yummy Frankies, a typical roll made up from a Roti with veg/non veg stuffing, part of my list of delicacies city has to offer … which one you would prefer??

Food n fun seem to be the ‘mantra’ around, those who are out of city seem to enjoy the vacations and rest of the city seen busy shopping and hooping malls, food courts and restaurants. Shop displays shine with creativity and colors….

Auto drivers in the city are coping with traffic situations which is becoming challenging day by day. The travel times within city destinations are increasing and so is the patience for those who commute. Here is my auto driver relaxing due to a traffic situation; he is now able to accept this as a routine perhaps…

For those who love donuts, this place on brigade road looks inviting. The food habits are dictated by the culture and as the city witness multiple cultures from diff parts of the world the acquired taste creates the ‘pull’.. Then follows the supply!!

Who else would have imagined having a donut shop in here back in 70’s…

Disappearing Landmarks..

‘Old is Gold’ may not apply to the construction industry. The old has to let new take it’s place in the modernization ambit… here is a famous landmark building on MG Road getting reconstructed, the old structure was quite stylish as seen by the arches of designer corners that once used to hold tapering roof….

Weekend Catch-up!!

Brigade road remains the teen catch-up / hang out from Friday evening till Sunday late evening, there are many who just flock down and unwind with friends and ‘download’ week full of happening’s to each other over/along/after some quick bytes, making it a’ happening’ place for sure...

It’s not new to use festive excitement for marketing, the big brands get more and more creative cashing on such opportunities. Here is Fosters, a leading beer brand getting creative and displays a X-mas tree made out of beer cans outside a pub/restaurant nearby brigade road…

Sometimes they try get creative enough so as so that it turns funny, here is one sign I spotted on MG Road and couldn’t resist a laugh!!

Like I said, for the foodie this city has many options and offers delicious food varieties from all over the world. Burped on this joint called Barbeque Nation on 100ft Road which serves variety of barbeque on the table where one can sit and make them to their taste…

Sampige...

Native to the city, Sampige or Champak trees are tall, have dense foliage, and bear highly aromatic yellow or orange flowers. They flower mainly from March to June. This tree or shrub which grows from 3 to 6 meters high and wide having fragrant orange, yellow, or creamy white flowers in the spring and produce an essential oil that is used in perfumes. For this city which have many tall sampige trees and even a street named after it, sampige remains vary important….

Roadside sale of Books outside HAL market, the titles and ranges differ to suit all reader classes and needs and is entirely different from other street vendors from different market areas too!!

Misty Fog….

December brings brand new clothing to the city, with it’s cold collection spread of mist in early morning till noon. Vehicles on road just like to get disappeared into it one after other enjoying the same. Temperatures dive down the mercury levels to touch 15 degrees Celsius and are predicted to go much below this season….

Mobile Friendly …

It is said that common hobbies / interest tie friends together. Perhaps for these two teens it’s their mobile and the SMS mania seem working…

More and more teens have made cell phones as necessities and are duly armed to converse / communicate with them. India now has about 129 million mobile phone users - which equates to about one in nine of the population and teen contribute majority stake…

Postbox Connections....

Times change so does most of the things, but this post box!! perhaps everyone in India would relate to these post boxes being there since long, I remember them way back from my school days when I was entrusted to post all letters going out from my family to friends and relatives….

Directions, Anyone!!.

Visitors and newcomers find this amazing unlike other major cities, Bangalore has a grid concept of Mains and Crosses, one has to really understand them to successfully navigate within residential layouts. Each Layout would have major roads called 'Main's' which are connected by many perpendicular cross roads... here is one road sign for 1st cross being reinstalled at a junction.

While strolling around the magical artworks exhibited in the Habba 2007 at Chitrakala Parishat, stumbled upon these clay creatures. Liked the way they have been presented with traditional medium with modern attire, creations such as these made by local artist were in plenty at an affordable price point...

Bengalooru Habba, 07

Bengalooru Habba is back with its repertoire of cultural events that include Carnatic music, folk dances, Yakshagana to fashion shows...

This fifth edition of Bengalooru Habba, which started on Nov 30th will be 10 day long celebration in the city…we catch up events at Chitrakala Parishat over the weekend and enjoyed the artifacts of 200-odd artisans from 21 Indian states and watched live performances.....

Purple trumpets of winter…

As the city cools down it turns purple, among the few most beautiful trees of Bangalore is this Purple Trumpet, or ‘Tabebuia impetiginosa’ from Tabebuia family. Tree loses all the leaves just before the winter and spellbound viewers with this spectacular bloom…

Winter Mornings…

Perhaps I make it early on the roads over the weekends and catch up with the morning world. If it’s winter then mornings are very pleasant and many tend to enjoy them sitting besides the road over cup of tea / coffee or simply walking down the quieter lanes …
