The true hunder keeps himself truly hidden from it's pray, this camouflage helps them secure their goal easier...this Kite takes a leap from the higher branaches of a tall rain tree ....

Pigeons...

 

The city is longing for sparrows to comeback, yet another bird family is slowly settingly in. The pigeons are know to be concreate jungle friendly and with city adding more and more floorspace vertically these birds will soon start replicating their sucess likes of other metros....

The local pigeons are so native that they share the same space and food with their hosts. this one is perhaps enjoying his meal and gets leftover rice served on the compound wall and gives me a matured stare....

Garden city houses many of these around lakes and ponds, this barbet in my neighborhood keeps it alive via melodious calls early mornings, what a lovely start of the day!

Lalbagh Birds...

Great cormorant takes a dip in the lalbagh lake. These are common aquetic bird found around lakes in the city and watchign them early mornign is quite a relaxation...

On Watch...

He is alert and perhaps waiting for some quick pick as he rests on a handlebar of a motorcycle near the market, this crow is adapted to th urban life so much and has become integral part of our lives....

Purple Moorhen

Lalbagh swamp has a local resident, among few exotic birds around, These are also called as Swamp hens and prefers wet areas with high rainfall, swamps, lake edges and damp pastures.

Crows pick!!

The clever crow gathers lot for his nest, the season provides ample leftovers from spring for nest building, this one too seem busy building one....

The ultra white heron is meditating on a big rock over Lalbagh lake, the lake bears lot of fish thus lot of aquatic birds around... early morning walkers in the park get this opportunity to see them in action.....

Little Sparrow...

This is a friend city has been waiting to return since long, once common these sparrows in the city have drastically reduced since longtime and spotting them somewhere is worth a picture!! this one seen in the Russel Market area!!

Parrots...

Parts of the city house these beutiful birds in the wold, the parks and the green residential areas provide enough spaces for them to feed and fly around....

Common Myna...

The Common Myna is readily identified by the brown body, black hooded head and the bare yellow patch behind the eye. The bill and legs are bright yellow. There is a white patch on the outer primaries and the wing lining on the underside is white. This one seem to be busy building nest and collecting twigs...

Maina...

Flowers of Forest fire tree are a good source of morning dew drop collection, this maina seems to enjoy it along with some necter perhaps!! Winter is knocking on the doors the weather is pleasant along with a peaceful morning!!

Birds of a feather...

Birds of a feather flocker together...do I need to say more!! The regions in and around the city are with so rich waterbodies that evenign sky is always delightful of such sightings!!

Being Aquatic..

The pond heron is walking on the lotus leaf in lalbagh lake, the bird is busy checking out for small fish to feed itself, the forthcoming monsoon though will have more food to offer…

Water for Birds..

This was an initiative I participated since last two years, to help the birds get some water in the scorching sun many people in densly populated urban areas of the city have started keeping bowls, glasses of water on their rooftops, galleries and even outside windows to help feed the birds, I have seen this was well received and my rooftop have many flying visitors chirping away ...wish to join the cause?

Being Together...

Garden city has some beautiful lakes, and the special appearances such as these keep these lake alive, while sunsets this graceful pelican pair enjoys K R Puram lake….

A lone kite on a leafless tree, perhaps waiting for the monsoon to pickup the pace or is a witnessing seasons turning the page…

It’s been raining almost everyday all through afternoons till late night, the evenings are dark and everyone including these birds were waiting for a good sunlight…a small lake in Cubbon park sees some ducks and a cormorant takes few moments off to enjoy the sunlight …
