Shopping veggies for the family was part of my responsibilities as a schoolboy and used to peddle down the market road to save time. I spotted this bicycle waiting for it’s owner in the vegetable market and was quite nostalgic (The temptation of sneak peak into the shopping bag continued!) and took me back the memory lane!!
Peace. Lalbagh tranquility offered to the city is undisputable. The peaceful & all green surroundings of huge trees, their shades, colorful blooms and all a beautiful weather made my day! The lush green lawns spaced out seat-outs and lot of spare time to relax…oh, what a Sunday!

While it does rain in the evenings, afternoons continue to race with mercury for now. I picked up this from a flicker friend to keep few pots filled with water for birds in my terrace. This pot now has few flying friends and a regular bathing visitor, a squirrel from the neighborhood…

The street carts are loaded with various mangos, reflection of the common choice of this fruit. They are ready to eat and priced moderately ( after all passion is priceless) and tagged with guaranteed sale due to popular demand!!
The gulmohors still at a full bloom so does the mercury, city has not witnessed such along summer but the news of monsoon touching Kerala on 26th May seems a great news!!
Optimization at its best, the load on the road gets so unrealistic sometimes it is only miracle that things don’t flip…this fully loaded vehicle carries obnoxious proportion of load ( remains invisible to police) and scares people like me to follow them from a safe distance….
Summer vacations are crowd pullers at the HAL aerospace museum, kids get to touch and feel the mighty fighters and play around with actual machines they generally see flying around with curiosity. A great experience for the kids for sure…
On my return from a long vacation, the first of the few things that came to my mind was ‘coffee’! I was pulled to the nearest darshinis on double road near ESI hospital to enjoy few hot sips of the lovely filter coffee served in a small glass. Few sips down the throat, only then felt like I am back!!
Thirst quenching options does include coconut water as it offers not only a drink but can eat it too!! Nearby corner of the neighborhood on a typical hot day, a seller parks his bicycle loaded with coconuts and within few minutes there are thirsty customers who enjoy them drinking cold coconut water and eating tender creamy kopra…

One recommendation from my visiting guests was to taste the holige / Obbattu. This sweet is prepared with wheat flour ( Maida), grind jaggery,coconut and dal make a fine thick paste which is stuffed insiude the maida roti and served with lots of ghee. The food street came to my recue with hot Obbattu served… 
Perhaps this arrangement is to balance out the outcry due to summer heat, the gulmohors bloom and so are the mangos putting some indulgence to the taste buds, all because of the summer. The month long mango festival in Lalbagh says it all, the love and affection for this king of fruit is widely celebrated as affordable, farm fresh and tasty mangos are sold throughout this month ….
Perhaps this summer is hotter and longer than before, city is eagerly waiting for the rains and the clouds keep paying hide and seek over last few days in the evening sky….

The first thing that I noticed once back to the city was the blooming Gulmohors across entire city, the mercury has crossed 35 deg C and thus the blooms are at their best…more the heat more they bloom …
