The century old practice of using biodegradable material surely has a potential to support the environment and the cottage industries producing them in rural parts of the state / country…

Metro work on MG Road...

You may call this one a status check photo, the Metro work on MG road is at full swing. Motorist though find it difficult to navigate within the confined spaces allocated for one lane each side of the MG Road, all the trouble for a right cause for sure....

Blooming grass...

Weather is just right for walks, good sunshine, cool breeze and soothing pinks painted by the grass blooms. The grasslands nearby my workplace backyard is at full bloom with pink magic....

Moped rides...

Two wheeler counts in the city keep adding, but when it comes to most affordable and economical people are seen using these kinds of Mopeds, under 50cc bikes. Notice this single seater one is modified to take along goods on the pillion seat!

Wait state...

Early morning while on my way to work, I cross few such 'wait state' spots where everyone is waiting for their pick up to work, school etc. The time perhaps is best utilized for important 'downloads' between the networkers...

btw don't get surprised to see the tree monuments as i call them, the road widening initiative has created many such monuments on the roads that once had lush green canopies...

Shared School (bus?) Auto's..

Early morning such scenes are common in the city. The auto rickshaws that ply kids to schools, they operate privately and gather kids from same area to ferry one or many schools dropping the kids back and forth. The parents are worry free as each student gets picked up and dropped personally by the auto driver from their door step ….

Super sales, grand discounts and many more such slogans used to keep consumers attracted in markets. Marathalli Market is shoppers paradise for clothing and big brand outlets (they are known as factory outlets too) that actually keep selling branded stuff via such marketing schemes almost all round the year...

Work is progress, the constructions an renovations are a common sight, the beautiful old houses are giving way to the modern apartments and commercial establishments. The labors camp on the worksites itself to start the work early and reduce commuting time... the work must go on!!

Shopping Lessons...

Being a kid i remember going shopping to markets with my granny, the first few bargains made me know that conversations and negotiations do make significant difference in our 'wants'... here is another generation getting to know the tricks of the trade with her elder in the family. She is observing her keenly as she finished the transaction by paying money after buying veggies...

Bullock-cart Deliveries…

Even though there are ultra modern transportations available few still prefer to ferry the goods from and to the markets with the help of bullock carts, the goods are generally associated with agricultural produce but can spread to the purchases made by the farmers from wholesale markets back home…

City is busy celebrating Ganesha festival, even the busy streets like this SP road which is an electronics & engineering market does celebrate festivities by way of offering free lunches to the community. The huge containers used for cooking food are kept right on the street itself. The size of each easily demonstrate number of participants / beneficiaries…

The colorful pipe rolls kept in stacks for sale nearby City market. The shapes, sizes, materials and colors make so many options and variants one can simply not imagine unless a visit…

@The bus stop...

Early weekends too have lot many travellers who depend on reaching their place of work via buses, there are many formal and informal bus stops where crowds wait for their respective buses to arrive...

Road Widening...

While city grows it take toll on the nature, the green city of gardens needs wider roads and the old trees are made to sacrifice to make way for the growing number of vehicles and parking needs thereof…
The old-timers who have seen great canopies of trees overlapping roads and providing shades now perhaps are losing hopes…

Stick no bills…

Perhaps evident advertisement boards in almost all cities; they don’t even spare electrical switch boxes and use them as local bulletin classifieds…

Rail Crossing...

Rail over bridge on the old madras road. While passing through the road below just happen to click the crossing train which connects Bangalore with southern Tamilnadu ( Salem - Madurai etc) the crossing below is just two lanes on a highway that connects Bangalore to Chennai….

Rain Dance...

Rain continues to play hide and seek, the clouds mark their presence to the setting sun and start pouring in after sunset...

Apartment culture..

Like most of the developing cities / metros, Bangalore is also witnessing the apartment culture booming everywhere. The independent houses and layouts though still exist, many prefer to stay in apartments and residential complexes that offers much more safety, common recreations and most importantly at a lower cost as the expenses are shared by many families…

Now reading, the pirated books kept for sale on roads perhaps reflect what's in demand from the readers, though the books are available cheap the print quality is very average / poor and sometimes result in lost pages and paragraphs...

Sweet lime per KG..

Fruits are sold worldwide, and city is no exception. The method and means of sale differ from city to city and market to market. Like for few sale is per pack, selling by numbers like dozen (pack of 12) or other who sale them by weight, like here in Bangalore…. This difference is noticeable immediately to the newcomers…

Festivities continue...

While entire city is celebrating Ganesha festivities, the sale of flowers, mango leaves, banana stems and many other puja items continues in the local markets. The festivities would span over 10 days from Ganesh Chaturthi and so are the vibes...

Shopping for festival..

Jai Ganesha, the shoppers do ‘Sri Ganesha’ ( a saying used for/before starting of any activity) for the festive shopping of banana stems ( used for decorating Ganesha ‘mandap – place where Ganesha idols is placed for puja) flowers, fruits (sugarcane for sure) and many puja/ decoration items….

The market was crowded with lot of enthusiasm and fortunately it did not rain last evening…

Footprints of a Downpour...

It rained a lot, for entire week city witness sucha heavy downpour that many roads, gardens and residential layouts were flooded. Road in my neighborhood showcases the rainwater footprints with green leaves that left the trees due to stormy winds…

Ganesh Chaturthi is on Wednesday. Ganesha idols are kept ready on roadside stalls covered with plastic sheets to protect them from heavy rains lashing the city.
