Yes, it’s a celebration time! Most of the block busters start in the movie halls are so much exciting that they actually decorate the movie hall with flowers, garlands on the posters etc, a truly unique way of releasing a film in all the movies halls in this city….

Jowar Roti Meals@Kamats

Served on a banana leaf the north kanara meals are a pleasure to enjoy. This meal is popular for soft and tasty Jowar (Sorghum) roti served with a brinjal curry, cucumber and onion raita (salad) in Curd, greens & lentils curry. Once you enjoy the Roti’s, then it is time to enjoy steamed rice served with rasam or drum stick sambar a yummy affaire for sure. Another shade of the summer exhibited in Cubbon park, each change in the season reflects thoroughly in the magnificent park… my weekend early morning walk is a bliss!!

The Door…

For few believers this door might open the gates of the heaven, but this huge door of the someshwar (Shiva) temple in ulsoor market area is indeed larger than (life) normal doors. Grabbing attention of the devotees, this door embedded in stone carves temple entrance is still functional and used daily….

Cubbon Park remains favorite choice for large group of friends and families to gather and enjoy lunch in greenery and shade. This large group picnic achieves both the objectives of meeting and eating together and beating the summer heat naturally…

Dosa Anyone??

I am always game for occasion to enjoy hot dosa’s, so are the opportunities that are created. A roadside dosa stall in VVPuram is the place for an early evening grab. The varieties they offer at affordable rates are tasty and interesting compared to other establishments in the city…but anywhere dosa remains a favorite.

The Bus Stop…

Summer noon, the busy city continues to remain hot. Commuters find shades to wait for the buses near Hudson circle. The number of buses coming to the stop are many thus they lineup entire stretch of the road one by one…life is busy!!

Back Stage Technicians…

And there comes times when digi-cams requires undergoing some medication like changing small capacitors, gear pullies or rollers or even just cleaning lenses. My Kodak c663 felt the need and I went around searching for a repair shop in crowded streets, back lanes of Gandhi bazaar to get it fixed. Inside a shopping arcade this small compact shop houses two experts with hundreds of cameras, thousands of spares and busy hands on the repair jobs for all makes, models and brands...

What’s cooking!!

The traditional way of heating water by fire, not a surprise as some of the semi urban pockets in the city still use wooden waste to light the fire required… the regular use of this ‘chulha’ has darkened the aluminum vessel charcoal black..

A definite option to beat the summer heat this soft, juicy and cool out the Taati Nungu are the natural coolers usually available in summer.. the street vendors clean them from the palm fruits and sell them on the carts throughout the city….Known as ‘Nunguu’ in Tamil, ‘Tadgola’ in Marathi and Gujarati, ‘Taati munjalu’ in Andhra, ‘Taati bonda’ in Tulu…

Friends, Gossips, Ice-Creams, Ciggies …

While catching up with friends seems to have a new combi, an ice candy in one hand and cigarette in another, discovered by this group. These youngsters are mingling on a lazy evening leaning on a wrongly parked car owned by one of them. There are many quieter roads in neighborhoods with small coffee shops or darshinis surrounding which such groups can be seen in evenings, late noon’s and entire day on weekends…

Pav Bhaji...

Pav Bhavi, a super duper street food that is one the streets of almost all metros in India, the Bangalore is no exception, There are doubts over which street has the best. I put my vote to few ones here on the food street in V V Puram. The place often makes me nostalgic about Mumbai Vada Pav and Pav Bhaji….
