While some prefer to buy new books, there are still many who prefer visiting the book lane ( avenue road) to these merchants / book sellers who encourage people to re-use and re-cycle the ‘used’ books for the needy, on a longer term this provides a great value not only to the user but the others as the cost of the books keeps coming down, a single copy is used by many thus is a noble cause for environment support too…

Shoemaking, the heritage occupation!

Shoemaking is a traditional handicraft profession, which has now been largely superseded by industrial manufacture of footwear. This Village Cobbler (aka. Mochi) is seen busy repairing footwear on a pavement.
Traditionally these men used to may produce a range of footwear items, including shoes, boots, sandals, clogs and moccasins. Such items are generally made of leather, wood, rubber, plastic, jute or other plant material, and often consist of multiple parts for better durability of the sole, stitched to a leather upper. Now with changing times they have adapted to get into quick footwear repairs business…
